Shimotsu house




The residence locates in a small fishing town. The mountains extend behind it, and it established as a noble single-story house where it has four large roofs on the external façade. When you open the front gate, there is a Japanese style approach that leads toward the entrance area. You can see the autumn leaves when opening the entrance door as if these are welcome the visitors from the large picture windows.


This residence has four yards where you can enjoy the four season’s changes. Each yard brings the four season’s transition into the indoor space. Furthermore, the indoor has an inclined ceiling reflecting the massive roof form so that it gives the place any changes. It achieved an environment that the residents can feel relax when they come back as if travelers relieve the weariness.
